LGBTQ Resources

Sexual violence is prevalent in our society and happens to many women including lesbian and bisexual women. Survivors of assault often have a great deal of difficulty seeking help. The homophobic attitudes that surround lesbianism and bisexuality can create silence which often prevents a survivor from coming forward to seek support.

Our Centre also provides support to trans women and trans men who have experienced sexual violence. Much like homophobic attitudes, transphobic attitudes may serve as a barrier to transpeople who require support.

Recognizing these issues, KWSASC offers a free and confidential support group every fall. This group is open to lesbian, bisexual and trans women (over 16 years of age) who have experienced sexual violence during their lifetimes. Click here for our flyer.

KWSASC celebrates and supports the diversity in our community and warmly welcomes lesbian, bisexual and trans women as service users, volunteers or employees.
